Numina was born Tammy Arcanus, daughter of Tommy Arcanus of the Midnight Squad. Tommy delved so deeply into the metaphysical that his very being was affected, and Tammy was born with magical powers. In the 1960s, Tammy and the Midnight Squad were sent into a series of caverns surrounding the Earth's molten core where a Soviet villain known as the Red Threat intended to destroy the world. To save the Earth, Tammy possessed the body of the Red Threat. Her body was destroyed but her consciousness survived, trapped within the Red Threat. During the Rikti Invasion, the Red Threat was destroyed and Tammy's astral form was at last free. She renamed herself Numina and threw herself into the war against the Rikti. In the war's aftermath, Numina uses her abilities to nurture the next generation of heroes.

Due to injuries he sustained at that time, he lost full control of his powers. Now, to protect others from himself, he remains imprisoned within his battle suit. He is constantly searching for a cure for his condition, but that does not stop him from contributing to the defense of Paragon City and contributing many other technological breakthroughs for the good of all.

Sister Psyche
Even in her childhood, it was obvious that Sister Psyche was blessed. The tremendous scope of her mental powers was far beyond that of any hero, past or present. When the Rikti War descended, Sister Psyche knew she had to make her gift count. She did, but at a price. She exhausted her powers so thoroughly that she fell into a coma. A young heroine named Aurora Borealis offered to play host to Sister Psyche's projected mental self. Of course, this situation could not last forever. Now back in her own body, Sister Psyche has dedicated herself to helping to shape the tremendous gifts of the young Aurora. It's a responsibility she takes seriously, as well as a consolation for the loss of her former protoge, Malaise. When the psychic link between the two women was first disrupted, Sister Psyche lost her mental control over Malaise's dual personalities. The evil Malaise reasserted himself, and quickly made his departure. His present whereabouts are as yet unknown.

Lena Elliot was touched by magic from the moment she was born on the Vernal Equinox. Both her parents were powerful mystics, and performed a ceremony to bless Lena's birth. Shortly after her 21st birthday Lena's parents were caught in the middle of a battle between the Circle of Thorns and the 5th Column. The groups were seeking a pair of rings that had been in the Elliot family for generations. Lena's powers manifested and she instinctively protected herself and her parents. Manticore had been following the 5th Column group and came to the Elliot's aid. The battle was going poorly when Lena lashed out with her psychic abilities, stunning many of the villains. Manticore mopped up the rest, but not before the 5th Column managed to escape with Lena's parents. Manticore offered Lena the chance to fight at his side and she jumped at the opportunity. As Swan, she aids him in his relentless war against the 5th Column, in the hopes that one day she will find her parents alive.

Steven was blasted with high doses of electricity for days. It amplified the electrical energy in his body, giving him the ability to harness it into super speed and electrical blasts. Synapse escaped Crey's clutches by shorting out the lab where he was kept prisoner. To this day, Crey executives deny any knowledge of the project in which Synapse was an unwilling participant.

Valerie Kellum was an archeologist who discovered what she first took for an ancient spear. A more careful examination led to the realization that the spear had a technological component. She traveled around Europe looking for ideas about its origin and ended up in a local Crey facility. When a Crey security team tried to take the weapon from her it activated and injected Valerie with advanced nanites that transformed her into Valkyrie, a extraordinary warrior with a completely different personality. She broke free and traveled to Paragon City where Positron is helping her come to terms with her new identity.

As she reached adolescence she began exploring her powers before she was trained. She used astral projection to cast her spirit forth. So intoxicated was she by the new wonders that she was discovering she returned to her body too late to link with it. She watched helplessly as it withered and died without a spirit. As a living ghost, she found herself bound by Emperor Cole himself, forced to do his bidding for the foreseeable future.

You freeze a single target in a mass of death energy. The target is held and suffers cold damage, as well as negative energy damage over time. Some of the drained health is returned to you, healing you. The target also suffers lingering reductions in their movement and recharge speeds after the hold ends. Finally, the longer the Sentinel remains alive, the more likely his presence will sap the target's soul, causing them to suffer increased endurance cost for all powers.
Impale TAoE (Secondary Target), Special
You coalesce a mass of death energy in the ground under the location of a single target. After a few moments, this energy erupts from the ground in crystalline death energy form, which then bursts, causing all enemies still within the area to suffer knockdown and damage.

You call upon the many mouths of Mot to emerge from the ground beneath a single target's location. Initially, smaller mouths will emerge and tear at the flesh of all targets caught in the field of effect, causing minor lethal damage. Eventually, one of the larger mouths will appear and snap shut, dealing major lethal damage.
Consumed Essence Special
Mot's residual energy enables Diabolique to drain energy from the captured Heroes and channel it to herself and her enforcer, the Sentinel.
Freed Essence Special
One of the heroes from whom Diabolique was siphoning power has been freed, causing both Diabolique and the Sentinel to lose the benefits that hero conferred upon them.

As Diabolique's ritual has progressed, Dominatrix has become more and more intimately connected to Mot and Diabolique. As Diabolique's health is lost, Dominatrix will suffer faster health loss. However, this can be offset by destroying the creatures found within Mot or by freeing the heroes trapped inside, which returns life energy to Mot and also regenerating Dominatrix.
