Alignment Mission

You find a torn and trampled flyer on the street announcing that Beautiful Annabella's Carnival is going to be in Paragon City holding a month of fun for the whole family. Annabella may be beautiful, but her heart and soul are twisted and evil to the core. She just got out of the Zig, legitimately, but everyone knows that the system doesn't work.

Whatever her little family fun carnival is on the surface, it is certainly hiding an insidious plot underneath. You don't have proof... yet, but you do have a plan to get it.

It's no big secret that Annabella's achilles heel is her love for her favorite Strongman, aptly named Achilles. Putting the hurt on him will force her to admit to her evil machinations, because if she doesn't, then you'll show her just how mortal Achilles really is!

VILLAIN: Pain separates the truth from lies. A lover's cry is pain unequaled.

Briefing

Beautiful Annabella has always been able to work a crowd, and it seems she's at it again with her little trick. She's convinced the city that she's on the up and up and that her carnival attractions are just fun and games for the whole family. Luckily you know better. She did her time in the Zig, that's for sure, but when she got out she went right back to her Carnival brethren. Right back to her adoring minions and her loving strongman Invincible Achilles. Scum like Annabell a never changes, and neither will the law that fails to deal with her kind of scum. It's up to you to reveal the wicked heart beating beneath her carefully crafted mask. She won't admit her plans, she's too strong for that, but if you were to harm her lover, there you may find a weakness you can exploit. Make Invincible Achilles scream, and Beautiful Annabella will cry tears of truth.

• Teach Beautiful Annabella that all is fair in love and war

You'll need to find Invincible Achilles in Annabella's posh little hideout. Make him suffer for all the evils Annabella has ever visited upon others. When she comes to his aid she will be faced with the same anguish she inflicted on so many others. Justice is seldom so poetic.

Unnecessary Solicitation

Beautiful Annabella will be back at her hideout soon. You'll need to move quickly if you are to catch Invincible Achilles off guard and force Annabella into your trap. Once Achilles is screaming for mercy, Annabella won't be able to resist coming to his aid.

Good intentions or not, nothing could ever undo the evil that Beautiful Annabella and her gang unleashed on the innocent. Their debt of vengeance is paid now, with their lives. Only the bitter sweet memories of lost loved ones will remain, for nobody mourns the passing of the wicked.

Darling Dana falls limp to the floor, her life snuffed out by your hands, never to do evil ever again.

Invincible Achilles is not so invincible after all. You leave him in a heap on the ground and pick up the phone.

• Face me, villain!

Ambush! Beautiful Annabella will ambush the player when Invincible Achilles is killed.

Why? Why!? We did everything they asked of us, everything they said we needed to do in order to pay for our crimes. Why have you done this?

• Everything, Annabella? Tell that to your victim's families...

I wish I could. Every day I wish I could, but the court has forbidden me to make contact with them. What greater hell would you have me endure, Character? To what end?!

• Tell me what your plans really are!

What evil plan? What are you talking about?! I'm telling you the truth, Character! All we wanted was to try and put behind us the evil of our past. If we could just bring some joy to the world, some good, maybe somehow we could find forgiveness...

• The evil you've done and you expect me to buy the sob story?

I admit, I did some pretty wicked things in my time, but I've changed, we all did... All of us but you! We wanted nothing more than to try and atone for what we'd done, to bury the past behind us. But now you're the monster, Character! You're worse than I ever was! Why are you doing this? Why!?

• "Because death is the only way you can be truly free of sin." (Kill Annabella)

You leave Beautiful Annabella's mask on her face, more fitting of a funeral mask now. You have no desire to see the face of evil that lies beneath, because you know it wouldn't make any difference. Evil comes in every shape, size, and guise. This is a bitter lesson you have learned all too well.

Debriefing

Your thoughts touch briefly on what Beautiful Annabella said to you before you gave her peace. You are nothing like her. She is the... was the lunatic. She was the one who perpetrated heinous crimes against the people. Did she really think that she could just sit in a cell and wash her hands of the justice she so richly deserved? Maybe she did, but you know right from wrong, justice from injustice. The will of the people has been enacted, vengeance has been served and Beautiful Annabella and her Carnival are no longer a threat to anyone, and that is all that really matters.
