This article is about Arachnos enemy types. For the Epic Archetype, see Arachnos Soldier.
Overview
There are three main soldier types within Arachnos:

- The Arachnos version of SWAT forces

- Highly specialized reconnaissance and assault troops

Enemy Types
Wolf Spiders
The most basic and lowest of Arachnos forces, and probably the most numerous too. Wolf Spiders are desperate souls and little more than legalized thugs. They have conventional, very basic weapons an armor such as pistols, shotguns and sub-machine guns, in Arachnos version.
Those who show skills and dedication are promoted to the Crab Spiders. In the case of more rare and valuable skills such as psychic powers they can be promoted to the ranks of the Bane Spiders, or those with Mu blood may be transferred to the Mu Mystics.
Few seem to remain in the Wolf Spiders by choice.
Apparently none of the Arachnos Patrons is in command of the Wolf Spiders.
NOTABLE WOLF SPIDERS
Though not technically a Wolf Spider anymore, the brutal bodyguard of Ghost Widow is known to have been once part of the Wolf Spiders, and he still wears the tattered remains of his Wolf Spider uniform as of today.

This clumsy Arachnos soldier shows up in different missions. He can be a Wolf Spider, a Wolf Spider Tac Ops or even a Wolf Spider Huntsman. Though he tries to help, in the end he always get himself caught by the enemy or causes some sort of trouble to the player.
Minions
Wolf Spider

Pulverize Melee, High Damage (Smash), Minor Disorient
You attempt to Pulverize your opponent. This attack is slower than Bash but causes more damage. It also has a chance of Disorienting your opponent for a brief time. Damage: High, Recharge: Moderate.
Pummel (Melee) Minor Smash Damage
When all else fails, you have only your two fists to depend on.

Wolf Spider Assault
Wolf Spider Assault troops are armed with sub-machine guns to hose down pesky super-types who stick their nose in Lord Recluse's business.

Powers
Burst Ranged, Moderate Damage over Time (Lethal), Foe -Defense
Quickly fires a burst of rounds at a single target at long range. Damage is average, but the firing rate is fast. Can also reduce the target's Defense.
Heavy Burst (Only Level 21 and up) Ranged (Cone), High Damage over Time (Lethal), Foe -Defense
Fires a Heavy Burst of rounds at a single target at long range.

Wolf Spider Tac Ops
Tactical Operators are Wolf Spiders who have shown keen tactical sense and lead small detachments of Wolf Spiders.
Levels: 1-29
Powers
Mace Beam Ranged, Moderate Damage (Energy/Smash), Foe Knockback
The Nullifier Mace is capable of firing a tremendous bolt of Force from the end of it. Arachnos Troopers call this the Power Blast. The Arbiters who invented it scoff at this simple term.
Poisonous Ray (Only level 11+) (Ranged), Damage over Time, Toxic, Foe -Defense
You have been poisoned and your Defense has been reduced.

Wolf Spider Huntsman
The most brutal and effective members of the Wolf Spiders are eventually promoted to Huntsmen. They're armed and armored for many situations, so tread lightly when they are around.

Powers
Frag Grenade (Ranged) Targeted Area of Effect, Lethal/Smash, Foe Knockback
Launches an M30 grenade at long range from under the barrel of your Assault Rifle. The explosion of this grenade affects all within the blast and can knock them back.
Web Grenade (Only level 6 and up) Ranged, Foe: Immobilize, -Recharge, -Fly
Upon impact, the Web Grenade expels a strong, tenuous, and very sticky substance that can Immobilize most targets. This non-lethal device deals no damage and does not prevent targets from attacking, although their attack rate is slowed. The web can bring down flying entities and halts jumping.
Wide Area Web Grenade (Only level 11 and up) Ranged, No Damage, Targeted Area of Effect, Foe Immobilize -Recharge -Fly
Launches a Grenade at long range from under the barrel of your Assault rifle. It explodes into a field of sticky webs which slow and can immobilize all foes within its radius.
Venom Grenade (Only Level 21 and up) (Ranged, Damage over Time, Toxic) Foe -Damage, -Recharge
This poisonous grenade damages and weakens your foes.
Shotgun Ranged, Cone, Lethal damage, Foe Knockdown
Good at close range. Fires a cone of buckshot pellets and can knock some foes down.
Rifle Butt Melee, Smash
A smash with the butt of your rifle.
Wolf Spider Armor Auto: +Res( S30 L30 P20 ), +Prot( Ho 4.0 Im 4.0 St 4.0 Sl 4.0 Co 4.0 Fr 4.0 ), +Res( Sl 50 )
Your Wolf Spider Armor provides good protection to Smashing, Lethal and Psionic damage types, as well as offering basic levels of protection to most status effects, including Confuse, Fear, Disorient, Hold, Sleep and Immobilize effects.
Crab Spiders
Arachnos's Crab Spiders are the Rogue Isles' SWAT and are sent in to clean up big problems.
Despite their original looks, the origins the Crab Spiders unit or equipment have never been explained.
The Crab Spiders are under the command of Captain Mako.
NOTABLE CRAB SPIDERS
For some reason, and despite their number, it seems there isn't any notable Crab Spider around.
Ezekial Brass, the adopted son of Marshal Leon Brass used to be a Crab Spider. But due to recent events, he may have become a Tarantula now.
Minions

Crab Spiders function much like SWAT teams in other cities, and are dispatched to deal with high-level threats like super-types. They're equipped with full body armor, larger weapons and a set of mechanical spider arms that turn them into death-dealing machines.

Powers
Longfang Ranged, High Damage over Time (Lethal), Foe -Defense
The Crab Spider's Longfang Channelgun may also fire short bursts of energy, causing greater damage. This attack also reduces the foe's defense.
Slice Melee, Heavy Damage (Lethal), Foe -Defense
The Crab Spider performs a Slice with his Claws, dealing a good amount of damage. Damage: Moderate. Recharge: Fast.

Bane Spiders
Lord Recluse has had Arachnos gathering psychic children for years, and built two great forces, each army part of his strategy to fully control the forces that destroy all conquerors. The children, their powers are remade: their powers are forced inward. They mind-control themselves, then link themselves to the other Bane Spiders. They are a vast network of self oppression, designed to enforce its own loyalty. (1)
The most trusted and ruthless of them become Lord Recluse's personal guardsmen. (2)
It is known that Bane Spiders are recruited from among the Wolf Spiders, but not if this is always the case.
Apparently, the Bane Spiders are under command of Lord Recluse himself.
NOTABLE BANE SPIDERS
One of the most notable Bane Spiders is also one of the most troublesome. The first Bane Spider to ever break free of Arachnos' mind conditioning, Hugo Figures may well spell the end of Lord Recluse's Bane Spiders.
Virtually nothing is known about Wraith, other than the fact that he was active back in the 60s. Perhaps was one of the first Bane Spiders... or perhaps not.

Bane Spider Commando
Taken from the ranks of the Wolf Spiders, Bane Spider Commandos are given specialized assault training. They are vicious masters of combat that relish engaging the enemies of Arachnos.

Taken from the ranks of the Wolf Spiders, Bane Spider Scouts are given specialized covert operations training. They are elite spies used by Lord Recluse to monitor activities both in the Rogue Isles and beyond.

The Bane Mace can fire a nasty Poison Ray. This toxin is suspended in a polarized plasma field and delivered like an energy blast. Upon impact, the toxin directly attacks the immune system, reducing the affected target's Defense and Damage Resistance as it deals toxic damage. Damage:Moderate, Recharge: Slow.

You Bash with your mace dealing moderate Smashing damage and minor Toxic damage over time.
Pulverize Melee, High Damage (Smash) Minor Damage over Time (Toxic), Foe Disorient
You Pulverize with your mace dealing high Smashing damage and minor Toxic damage over time.
Clobber Melee, Minor Damage, Smash, Damage over Time, Poison, Foe Disorient
You Clobber your foe's head in order to disorient him. This attack does little damage on its own, but can leave most opponents disoriented for a very long time.
Shatter Melee, Extreme Damage (Smash), Minor Damage over Time (Toxic), Foe Knockback
You attempt to Shatter the bones of your opponent by striking them with all your might. This attack will deal great damage and can knock foes back a great ways. The power of this attack can actually extend a short distance through multiple foes.
Hide Self, Toggle, +Stealth, +Defense
Hide makes you almost impossible to detect. When properly hidden, a stalker can pull off Critical hits with his attacks, and even land a massive "Assassin's Strike" with an assassin's power. When you attack or are damaged while using this power, you'll be discovered. Even if discovered, you are hard to see and retain some bonus to Defense. Unlike most Stealth powers, Hide can be used at the same time as other Concealment powers, giving you even greater Stealth capability. Very low Endurance cost.
Placate Placate
Allows you to trick a foe into no longer attacking you. A successful Placate will also hide you. This hide is very brief, and offers no defense bonus, but it will allow you to deliver a critical hit or an Assassin's Strike. However, if you attack a placated foe, he will be able to attack you back.
Surveillance +Perception, +Resistance (Confuse)
When this power is activated, you focus your senses to analyze your target's defensive capabilities and discover their weaknesses. By sharing your knowledge of the target's weaknesses with your teammates, you effectively reduce their defense and resistance to damage.

Only the most trusted Arachnos agents are allowed to lead the Bane Spiders. An agent must be ruthless and efficient to become one of Lord Recluse's personal guardsmen. It is a great honor to be promoted to the position of a Bane Spider Executioner.
