The Failed Ransom

Alignment Mission

You come across a briefcase filled with unmarked, foreign currency. Inside you also find a note:

Androleve, I am trusting you will do job smoothly. You give money only when my brother is safely in your hands. If Arachnos has harmed single hair of Dmitrev, then I swear we will bring hammer down on them like bugs! - Gorzky

It seems you've come across a hostage exchange involving a sizeable amount of money. Not only that, it looks like it's involving some foreign agency and Arachnos... and a lot of threats.

What was that saying? The enemy of my enemy is my friend...

Villain: Foil the ransom attempt

Judging by the amount of money being swapped for this Gorzky's brother, it's safe to assume there is similar power backing up his threats regarding his brother's safety. If you were to see this ransom through up to the point where you're in the vicinity of his brother, you could see to it that Gorzky's fears come true.

The the cost of one life, you could get an entire foreign power to give Arachnos a taste of their own medicine.

Besides, it's not like Gorzky's brother probably didn't deserve to be kidnapped in some way or form. You can't associate with criminal forces without becoming one yourself. And it's your job to wipe those lowlifes from the face of this world...

The rest of the instructions in the briefcase detail the location of the ransom and the details of how the ransom is supposed to happen. All you need to do is walk in there, act as if you're working for whoever these guys are, and get close to Gorzky's brother. One clean hit is all that'll be needed to see to it that Gorzky pursues a blood debt against these tyrants.

Unnecessary Solicitation

The longer you wait to carry out this ransom, the more suspicious Arachnos is going to get. All you need to do is walk in there, act as if you're working for whoever these guys are, and get close to Gorzky's brother. One clean hit is all that'll be needed to see to it that Gorzky pursues a blood debt against these tyrants.

So far so good. You're going to need to deal with the guard who's on the lookout. If you can - convince- him to give you the all clear, you should be able to find the mediator who's doing the exchange.

Do you think we're going to let you storm in here and just walk out with that little snot? He'll be long gone before you get anywhere close to him. Not to mention the poison gas we've rigged the place with in case you get past me.

While applying force to painful pressure points, you choke the Arachnos agent until his eyes roll into the back of his head. His face reads of a mixture of fear and extreme pain.

You release him, give him a moment to catch his breath, then do it again.

And again and again.

• Now... Tell the Fortunata that the coast is clear and I've got the money.

Okay okay okay! I'll do it... Just... Just please stop.

The Arachnos agent stares at you with fear and speaks into his earpiece whilst you press your thumb to his carotid artery, 'Fortunata... He's clear... And he has the money. Should I send him to you now? Okay, I'll tell him.'

There... I told her. Now... let... me........ go..............

You continue to press the artery until he loses all oxygen to the brain, resulting in him collapsing to the floor.

Fortunata Mistress: A rather cunning plan, I must admit.

At 75% Life:

Fortunata Mistress: But sadly, you fail. Goodbye, Character.

At 25% Life:

Fortunata Mistress: It's too late... Teams are already on their way to relocate him.

Defeated:

Fortunata Mistress: You'll never save his life, Character...

Poison Gas Control Terminal interaction

Interacting with Poison Gas Control Terminal

This terminal controls the security measures that are intended for stopping any forceful means of rescuing Gorzky's brother.

From here, you can see a live camera of what appears to be a prisoner being prepared for transportation by a number of Arachnos agents.

You notice they're standing directly beneath an air duct vent.

• Access the terminal

Looking through this list of function calls, you immediately spot an airflow regulator. Studying the chart, you're able to see a way to direct the gas away from the area of the base you're in and redirect it to the holding cell.

• Redirect the gas to the holding cell

You quickly redirect the gas to the holding cell, and not a moment too soon - your vision is beginning to go a bit hazy.

• Check the security cameras

You watch the camera feed and see the group, including who you assume is Gorzky's brother, start to grasp at their necks. A few moments later, they violently collapse to the ground writhing in horrible spasms. For several minutes, they convulse wildly on the ground until they abruptly stop.

It appears as if Gorzky's brother is no longer among the living.

• The job is done...

Debriefing

Although it's dirty work, you've managed to widen a rift between Arachnos and a foreign power. Yes, you had to assassinate a defenseless person in order to do it. However, sometimes you have to fight fire with fire.
