Changing the Names of Your Supergroup Ranks

Just use the Settings button in your Supergroup window to change your ranks. If you'd like to know why, then read on...

The slash commands for changing the names of supergroup ranks were left unfinished at the time City of Heroes shutdown in November 2012. Slash commands for two of the rank names were never created, "General" and "Kingpin". In addition, 3 of the existing slash commands change different ranks than they're intended to change. "Commander" changes the "General" rank instead of, you know, "Commander". Both "Leader" and "Overlord" change the "Commander" rank instead of the "Leader' rank. The commands and ranks are even mixed up in the game's configuration files! Lastly, none of the commands change the name of the Leader or Overlord ranks.

So the slash commands to rename supergroup ranks, although easy to use, are incomplete and broken. Still, if you INSIST on using these slash commands to change the names of your supergroup ranks, then you'll have to do a little bit of mixing and matching to make it work, at least for half of the ranks. Follow this handy chart to select the slash command to use for the desired SG rank:

Hero and Villain Supergroup Ranks Slash Command(s) to Use
Leader Overlord none
Commander Kingpin /nameleader
/nameoverlord
General Ringleader /namecommander
/nameringleader
Captain Taskmaster /namecaptain
/nametaskmaster
Lieutenant Enforcer /namelieutenant
/nameenforcer
Member Flunky /namemember
/nameflunky

The syntax for these commands is:

/name_SGrank name

Example

/namemember "Access Level 1"
