Slash command

/interact

Interact with an object or entity in front of the player using a keyboard key (equivalent to left-clicking on an object).

  • This command makes running around in City of Heroes much easier. Definitely a quality of life improvement.
  • Although the command works well, sometimes you have to line up the object or entity in just the right way for it to work. Directly in front of you is generally the rule, but you also can be too close or too far away.
  • This command was first introduced by Homecoming in Issue 27 Page 1.
Editor's Note:

If you are finding you need to execute the command twice just for it to work, try binding it as a "toggle key" by adding the plus (+) prefix to the command string like so /bind X "+$$interact". This will force the command to be executed on key press and again on key release, and will make for a much smoother experience.

However, if you also want to use the /interact command to open Merit vendors, crafting tables, or any other window that toggles open/closed, you'll need to make a rotating text bind that looks something like this:

interact1.txt
X "+$$interact$$bindloadfilesilent /binds/interact2.txt" interact2.txt
X "+$$interact$$interact$$bindloadfilesilent /binds/interact1.txt"

You'll want to change the path to your bind files if you don't have a folder called "binds" in C:\Games\Homecoming\Settings\Live.

To import it into your character, you can either copy and paste the command string from the first file and then in game bind it to the X key (or whatever key you want). Or you could just use /bindloadfile /binds/interact1.txt to import it.

Tip: Bind this command to the X key, and remap the +down command to the Z key.
