Overview
On December 1, 2008, Positron mentioned in an interview that the second Super Booster would be a magic theme. [1]
- Joystiq
- You've said before that the team has more microtransactional content planned already. Do you have any details to offer on any of these future 'Super Booster' packs?
- Positron
- Super Booster II will be a magic-themed pack that will sit alongside the Cyborg pack very well. It will have costume pieces and other goodies that are themed for both stage magicians as well as your more traditional fantasy mages.
On January 8, 2009, JLove mentioned that the magic theme includes a cloak-like item instead of long skirts or robes. [2]
- Just so you know, because knowledge is power. Robes, skirts, and other shoot that goes beyond the knee looks like trash. I have tried to make a long skirt but it just doesn't work out to my high standards of fine quality. If I think it looks bad that means you; the players, will loathe it even more.
- What I have going on for the magic set; that is done and complete, is a compromise. I wouldn't call it a robe per say, it's more like a cloak of sorts. I don't know when marketing is going to release pics and crap, but I think that you guys will like what I did.
- Magic is a pretty broad theme and trying to wrap it up in a single costume set was a bit of a task. I ended up breaking what I had in mind in to male and female sets. I try to please the masses but I know somebody out there is going to say "oh man, why didn't he include this, or that?" and to that I say tough nutz.
On January 22, 2009 one of the costume parts for the booster (Witch Leather Top) was accidentally released to the live servers. The developers have announced that this was a mistake and that any characters using the part will have their costume reset when the booster goes live.[3]
On March 2, 2009, Positron stated that the Architect Edition and Super Booster II would be released simultaneously. The Architect Edition is currently slated for mid-April. [4]
On April 8th, 2009, Ex Libris posted[5] a detailed preview of the Magic Pack:
- Magic Themed Costume Set:
- The Magic themed female costume parts include hats, chest, pants, gloves, boots, and magic robe pieces. The Magic themed male and huge costume parts include hats, hood, skull mask, wizard beard, high collar cape mantle, boots, jackets and more. Describing how cool these costume pieces are doesn’t do them justice, so on to the screenshots!
- Mystic Fortune Power:
- Ever wanted to have your fortune read in game? With the Mystic Fortune power players will be able to offer to read each other’s fortunes. Having your fortune read gives a power buff based on the Major Arcana of the Tarot, and can give a positive or negative effect on that character for the next 20 minutes.
- Costume Change Emotes:
- Characters with multiple costume slots unlocked will also have an exciting new way of customizing their characters; costume change emotes! Super Booster II: Magic includes 4 costume change emotes these emotes activate when characters switch their costumes, and are selectable in the costume change interface.
