From my alt Raith Karanys, Hero lvl 35:

The "Accept Mission to Prove " etc (first mission) for me was not against the NPC named in the current page, but against Publius Hortensius. I suspect the names were changed in I13?
[NPC] Publius Hortensius: Today, our attack on Cimerora will deal a killing blow to Imperious and his pathetic army.
[NPC] Publius Hortensius: Once we have defeated the majority of his soldiers, we will move in for the kill. The women and all their resources will be ours.
[NPC] Publius Hortensius: Cimerora will be but one of our many conquered lands. Soon Romulus will spread his legion across the world!

...

[NPC] Publius Hortensius: My eyes deceive me! What manner of foul beast are you?!
Publius Hortensius has been defeated. Return to Marcus Valerius for further instructions.

The next two missions after the very first one are as follows:

Romulus' men have taken some of our younger Sybils from the Oracle. You are tasked with the responsibility of rescuing them.

-or-

Romulus has sent his men to pillage this fort time and again, making off with family heirlooms. If you can retrieve these materials, perhaps we can afford to build up our resources.
