Whatever do you mean? I'm completely sincere in my offer of that perfectly safe and enchanting amulet - enchanting in the 'good looking way', not the mind controlling way, of course.

Why are you looking at me like that? You don't trust me?

Hmph.

Well, they give you every wish you've ever - OW! - okay okay! FINE!

They transfer the wearer's consciousness into a central nucleus, leaving their body in full control of our whims and desires. While we're parading them around like cute marionnettes, their minds are in a cluttered communal... well, Hell, for lack of a better word.

We're not too sure what happens if the body dies without the mind being transferred back into it. Or if the Nucleus were to be destroyed, for that matter.

This is all new technology. We're still in the R&D phase, if you must know.

You don't.

The Superpyrite Amulet

Alignment Mission

The Carnival of Shadows has been rather quiet lately, and this note you just found might explain why:

'Antonio, word on the street is that the Carnival is accepting members. Check it out, you don't need to wear one of those dumb masks. All you gotta do is wear this amulet they give you made outta - get this - SUPER pyrite! We gotta get in on some of this action!'

Indeed. Perhaps you need to do the same... while all of these potential crime-doers are milling about at the same time.

Villain: Use the Carnival event to take out everyone!

The Carnival of Shadows is well known for their cadre of mentally compelled clowns. If this note is true, it seems they've found a way to increase their numbers of brainwashed goons by now aiming at the lowest common denominator - street trash. This is as good an opportunity as any to clean up the streets, even in the Rogue Isles of all places. You'll have to thank the Carnival later for picking up all the trash so that you can... dispose of it easily.

  • Track down the Amulet giver and take out the trash!

The note goes on to say where the Carnival is handing out the amulets of Superpyrite. Seems there's some head honcho putting people through some stupid little rituals, so that's probably the guy or gal you'll want to look for. All you need to do is show up and clean house, maybe with a couple extra points for inventiveness while you're at it.

Unnecessary Solicitation

If you keep waiting around all day, you'll lose your chance at taking out the Carnival of Shadows AND a whole host of street-trash. Get to that warehouse pronto!

Mission Objective(s)

From the unmistakable gutteral curses coming from down the hall, it sounds like Mangle has taken the Carnival's bait and shown up for an amulet. This day is turning out better and better!

  • Clean up the Carnival trash!
    • Take out Mangle while you're here
    • Take down Stardusk
    • Find the Grand Amuleteer and talk with her
    • Destroy the Amulet Nucleus!

With the destruction of the Nucleus, you feel a VERY fast headache come upon you all of a sudden. It's like a million thoughts suddenly cried out... Nah... More like one of those bad stress headaches. It's gone now.

Enemies

Carnival of Shadows

Notable NPCs

Ambush! Stardusk will ambush the player when Mangle's health reaches 50%.

Debriefing

You had yourself a very productive day!

Not only were you able to take out a couple of gutterpunks like Mangle and Stardusk, you were able to stop the Carnival of Shadow's new scheme. AND!!! And you wiped out the minds of countless gutterpunks throughout the Rogue Isles!

Not really, of course. You didn't believe that Carnival mistress for a moment. All those thugs will likely wake up with, well, a headache or something.
