Krazy Mark's Krazy Deals! (30-39)

You overhear some talk regarding a big find that Krazy Mark, from St. Martial, has - it seems to be some sort of new Rikti technology, which he's selling for dirt cheap. You go to investigate it, only to see that it's just a broken Rikti pistol. However, while at his store, you see a very angry Peter Themari stomping by with a furious look in his eyes. Curious, you do some investigating. One of your contacts give you the following information...

Peter Themari is known for trying to corrupt any upstanding person he can get his hands on. Well, this time he got his hands on a wealthy young woman named Lisa Darls. Lisa was clever, though, and managed to get away from Themari's lair. She's hiding somewhere in the sewers beneath St. Martial - though if Peter Themari has anything to say about it, he'll find her first and put her back in her place.

It's somewhat surprising that Peter Themari let this woman slip from his grasp. Though you can still use this to your advantage. This situation is the kind of thing that heroes kill for - rescuing a woman from the grasp of the evil villain. If you were to create a fake SOS to some heroes, you could trick them to the sewers of St. Martial - and right into your trap.

Then again...your contact did mention this woman was quite wealthy. That equation of wealth plus distress always equals plenty of money to be made.

Briefing

Those heroes within Paragon are always waiting for the chance to spring into action to rescue any sort of damsel in distress. Such predictable behavior is excellent for someone such as yourself to use to your advantage - which you fully intend to do.

Trick some heroes into the sewers of St. Martial!

You've got your plan all set in motion. You'll have to first make sure to silence the girl hiding in the sewers - you can't risk the heroes actually finding her. Next you'll release a fake broadcast, disguising your voice. Then all you'll have to do is sit back and let the heroes come straight to you - for their beating, of course.

These sewers are crawling with Wailer demons - which is fine. All you're looking for is that woman.

You've finished off the heroes! Maybe next time they'll know better, though if they did, it would ruin some of your fun.

75% health: If I burn you to a crisp, that'll get everyone's attention! I'll be Flambeaux, burning of Character!
50% health: Impressed yet, Character?
25% health: Ow! You're not staying down!
Upon defeat: Huh...?

Before combat: No one else dies today, not on my watch. Themari won't get that girl if I have anything to say about it.
Combat start: Character? So... This is a trap is it?
75% health: You'll have to excuse me if I flip this trap around on you. Get Character!
50% health: I'm a changed man, Character. The kind of man who is going to stop scum like you!
Upon defeat: I couldn't even...save this one person...

Ambush! When Frostfire reaches 75% health, there will be a one wave ambush by Longbow.
We've got a location on Character, move move move!

Debriefing

You should start keeping count of all the heroes you've taken out - the list is starting to grow too long to keep track of.

Though it was a bit of an upset that some of the supers you handled weren't true heroes just yet.

Rogue Acceptance

Briefing

You do some digging on the identity of Lisa Darls to find out she's actually a very wealthy stock market broker with a large amount of expensive stocks - which can be yours, if you help her out of this situation. If she's underneath the sewers in St. Martial, it'll mean she's in Wailer territory. Fighting through those Wailers will be sure to startle the woman into running away - which could lead to her into more danger. That's not something you can risk. You'll have to figure out a way to placate the wailers in order to safely reach the Lisa Darls - if you choose to help her.

Save Lisa Darls!

You put in the request to a few of your contacts that you require a method of walking past Wailers untouched. One of your more reliable contacts sends you a magical rune. They say that it will make the Wailers think you're one of their own, so long as you hold onto it. Though the contact did warn you that the rune was very sensitive and could be shattered easily.

This'll have to do for now.

Hopefully you'll get there before Peter Themari can claim his prize again.

The succubus startles, leaping away from you, assuming a combat stance. She calms for a moment, sighing heavily.

Y-you know my name? What do you want?! Are you here from Themari?! Who are you?!

• The name's Character, and no, I'm here to get you out of here... for a price.

Lisa's face brightens as she straightens her posture.

Thank goodness! Oh, I'll pay you anything, you name it! Just get me out of here! Themari...he's changed me.

I used to be normal...I used to be a beautiful woman! Now look at me! I'm some sort of monster! And for what?! For his amusement? So he can say he turned someone into a demon?!

You can't let him get me again, you can't!

• Calm down. You've got the money, so you've got my services.

Right...right...of course. I'll give you the information for one of my bank accounts now, and the rest once you get me out of here.

Themari, he's sure to be looking for me! I can feel him getting closer and closer...w-wait...what was that?!

A large burst of magic flies through the sewers. You can feel the protective rune shatter into pieces.

• ...that's not good.

It's Themari! He's here! Character, you have to handle him! I-I'll meet you outside once he's gone. I can't let him get me again - I WON'T!

Lisa quickly leaps away, finding a place to hide.

• One day, -one- day this will be simple.

• Whoa - whoa - easy there. Not here for a life story... Just here for the money, lady.

Lisa Darls sighs, taking a breath.

You're right. I'm sorry...you don't care about any of that. I should be grateful that you're here to help me. We can arrange the form of payment once I get out of here.

Suddenly, a large burst of magic flies through the sewers. You can feel the protective rune shatter into pieces. Lisa Darls startles, looking about.

What was that?!

• I'm guessing that was Themari and his friends. They're not happy.

You have to stop them! I'm not going back to Themari, he won't take me!

Lisa Darls quickly leaps away to hide, leaving you to deal with the current situation.

• Oh, don't mind me! it's not like you're now a powerful DEMON or anything!

Ambush! All Wailers in the sewer become hostile and groups of Circle of Thorns appear.

Wailer dialogue

Wailer: Can't wait to take Johnny's soul...can't wait...

Wailer: Eh? How'd Character get all the way here?

Peter Themari smiles, bearing his green, rotted teeth.

Ah... Character. What a surprise to find you here. I trust you're doing well?

• Thermari, I'm really certain you're not surprised to see me.

Hah.

Yes, I suppose you're correct. It's most upsetting that you've chosen to try to save Miss Darls. I assume you've seen the work I've done on her?

She has the body of a monster, but still lacks the will of one. My project is still only halfway done - I will have her perfected, at least better than that Pyriss girl.

At any rate, it seems you currently stand in my way.

• Looks to be that way. Which means you have a very large problem.

Peter Themari lets out a deep laugh, his breath smelling like ash.

No my friend, I believe you are the one who has the problem. Unlike many of my...cohorts in the Isles, I am fully capable of handling a situation, should I need to.

• You're welcome to try, Themari.

Themari's eyes light up with a bright fire before he vanishes in a burst of smoke!

• Here we go...

• Are you seriously asking me that question?

Why not? I always believe in showing some proper manners. Especially to someone who you're going to wipe off of this mortal coil.

• No one seems to understand the idea of 'business'. That's all this is.

Of course, Character, I understand business quite well.

But your business happens to conflict with mine. Which is why one of us cannot be allowed to succeed.

• I'm assuming this isn't the part where you walk away peacefully.

No. It - is - NOT!

• ...great.

• Oh yeah, I just had to handle the lackeys of some goon. How about you?

Themari's eye twitches in irritation as he grits his teeth together.

I'm just - FINE - Character. Especially considering that I am here to see to some unfinished business.

• Your teeth won't get any cleaner by being in a sewer, by the way.

Themari rubs his arm along his lips, glaring at you.

You're just full of jokes, aren't you, Character?

• I always try to enjoy myself when making money.

You're not too terribly surprised that took more effort than you imagined. Lisa Darls gave you all the information needed to access her bank account. You watched as she ran off into the streets of St. Martial. She's avoided Themari for now, though how much longer she has is anyone's guess.
