A Strange Mystical Trinket
Alignment Mission
You discover a strange mystical trinket that looks dangerous and fascinating at the same time.
Examine the trinket, something about it is familiar.
This bizarre mystical trinket looks like a cross between a brooch and an offering plate. It is made of unique and unidentifiable materials, crafted in an unfamiliar style and covered with strange symbols. In fact, it is so unique that you've only seen one thing similar to this design... the signature artifact of Kel'Morgath, a powerful wizard of the Circle of Thorns! If Kel'Morgath is without his artifact then he will be weakened. If this is a copy then perhaps you can match or counter his power and strike against him! Either way you will need to move quickly and discover Kel'Morgath's lair within the mysterious city of Oranbega before he can rectify this chink in his defenses.
VILLAIN:Strike against Kel'Morgath while he's weak!
Briefing
Your investigation of the strange magical trinket suggests that it transmits the inherent magical energy from one individual to another. Kel'Morgath is using these types of artifacts to steal the power of others, that's why he is so powerful! If he were to get his hands on someone truly powerful, who knows how destructive that could be. There is no choice left, Kel'Morgath must be stopped no matter the cost!
Kel'Morgath's lair is located within the labyrinthine depths of Oranbega, the city of the Circle of Thorns. The trinket you discovered should enable you to navigate its depths and infiltrate into Kel'Morgath's inner sanctum. Once inside your only chance to defeat Kel'Morgath is to use the power of his trinket against him.
Unnecessary Solicitation
Who knows how many of these trinkets Kel'Morgath has and how many victims he is draining to empower himself. You must strike against Kel'Morgath now, or there may not be another chance.
Mission Objective(s)
As you enter Kel'Morgath's lair you discard your disguise as one of the Circle of Thorns. The time for deceit is over, now is the time for action!
- Eliminate Kel'Morgath's Source of Power
- Learn about Kel'Morgath's trinket
- Find Raveshna and the prisoner
- Defeat Kel'Morgath
Kel'Morgath has been destroyed, but at what cost? He warned you that the battle was won, but that the war for your soul had only just begun. No matter. In the war between good and evil, there will always be casualties. If you are to be one of these casualties, then the need to make a difference is even greater!

Abigor dialogue
- Abigor: Gloat now, children of Ermeeth, but your souls are still owed to me and mine! This imprisonment shall end, and when it does, I shall devour your souls one by one!
- Abigor: You! You carry the Foci of Binding! You can destroy Kel'Morgath and set me free. In return I shall devour his eternal soul!
After conversation
- Abigor: Move quickly, mortal, Kel'Morgath will soon discover that I am gone.
Abigor conversation
Speaking with Abigor
Kel'Morgath imprisoned me with a clever magical trick. Rest assured that shall not happen again. But I am still bound to the contract forged between us. I taught him how to construct the Foci of Binding, an artifact of power that links the power of two souls together into one, and the expense of the weaker of the two. In exchange for this knowledge, Kel'Morgath offered me his soul, but I did not know then that his soul was one of the Circle, for their souls are already owed to me and mine.
- Why does he want the Foci of Binding?
To increase his power, of course. He has a noble plan to use the Foci to gain enough power in order to fulfill the ancient agreement between the people of Oranbega and my demon overlords. Should he succeed then his soul would still be mine, but his people would be saved. The agreement, however, requires that the bloodline of Mu should be forever extinguished, their souls offered up to us in repayment for our service to them in your distant past.
With the foci draining power from his prisoner he is strong now, strong enough to keep me enslaved, too strong for you.
- Where can I find this prisoner?
The prisoner is here, in Kel'Morgath's sanctum, guarded by the succubus, Raveshna. His power is almost gone, and soon his soul will be mine, but Kel'Morgath has already chosen the man's daughter as his next victim, and she is even more powerful than her father.
- How can I stop Kel'Morgath?
It is simple. Without a victim to drain power from, Kel'Morgath will weaken. Use the Foci of Binding, drain all the power from his prisoner and use it against Kel'Morgath. Once defeated his soul is mine for the taking! But first, you must use the Foci to release me from my enslavement.
- How do I know you won't turn on me?
I am still bound by my contract with Kel'Morgath, so I can do no direct harm to him. You are the only one who can defeat him and deliver his soul to me. But in order for me to claim his soul, I must be free of his magic. If you defeat him without freeing me, he will return another day to begin his plot anew.
This is the only way.
- Very well, demon. I release you!
The demon vanishes before your eyes, pulled back into the hellish realm from whence in came.
- "Find the prisoner." (Leave)
Orsen Greenfield dialogue
Before Combat:
- Raveshna: Once the master has drained your magic, your soul is mine, little man.
- Orsen Greenfield: Aaaauuuugh!
Combat start:
- Raveshna: What? Only one possessing the Foci of Binding could intrude here! My master will reward me well for delivering you to him!
- Orsen Greenfield: Help me! Please!
Combat Finish:
- Orsen Greenfield: We must flee. The wizard... He will steal your power!
Orsen Greenfield conversation
Speaking with Orsen Greenfield
A... A hero... From Paragon City.
I never thought I would be happy to see one of you. I... I am very weak. The wizard is using an artifact to drain my power in order to feed his own. He... He has said my daughter is next. Please, I must escape, my presence is only feeding him more power. He will destroy you!
- No running. We need to stop Kel'Morgath now.
I am of no use to you, my power is drained. How do you plan to oppose him? He is too powerful!
Augh... I... I can feel demons clawing at my soul. If I do not escape soon then they will claim it. I must get to the Midnight Squad. They will be able to keep me safe, at least long enough to see my daughter again, safe and out of danger of this madman.
He's here, no doubt planning the abduction of my daughter. We must rescue my daughter and get to the Midnighters; perhaps together we can gather our strength and oppose him.
- There is no time, the time to stop Kel'Morgath is now!
You are blinded by vengeance. Removing me from Kel'Morgath's grasp will already strike a blow against him. It is far wiser to rally our strength after putting him off balance and then to strike the decisive blow. Kel'Morgath must die, that much I agree with, but striking now will lead to my death, of that I am certain.
- Fight Kel'Morgath and you may die, fight me and you guarantee it.
Kel'Morgath dialogue
Before combat:
- Kel'Morgath: I sense a familiar magic... No! Another Foci of Binding. It is countering my wardings!
Combat start:
- Kel'Morgath: Character, stop! If you continue your attack then both our souls will be destroyed forever!
At 100% Life:
- Kel'Morgath: Are you so black hearted that you would resort to the same vile magic as I?
At 75% Life:
- Kel'Morgath: If you do not stop your assault then I will consume that man's soul and destroy both of our souls! His death will be on your shoulders!
- Orsen Greenfield: Auugh... No... He's draining my magic!
At 50% Life:
- Kel'Morgath: Did you now hear me, Character? You are bargaining with that man's soul! I will destroy him if I have to!
- Orsen Greenfield: Please, Character. If he draws away more of my power then my soul will be forfeit!
At 25% Life:
- Kel'Morgath: I... I... I can't! I can't damn that man's soul to the same hell awaiting my people. If you drain him any further then both of our souls will be forfeit.
- Orsen Greenfield: You! You've damned me for all eternity! For that I curse you to the deepest, darkest pit of hell and wish the agony of a thousand hells upon you!
- Orsen Greenfield: AAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGH!
Defeated:
- Kel'Morgath: Heh, your determination may have won you this battle, Character, but believe me when I tell you that you do not understand the cost you have just paid. The war for your very soul has only just begun!
After defeating a player:
- Kel'Morgath: You are dealing with power far beyond your feeble grasp, Character. Had you been more ruthless you might have prevailed!
Debriefing
The sinister wizard, Kel'Morgath, has been defeated, but at the cost of Orsen Greenfield's life. Such sacrifices are of no concern to you, Orsen was an Arachnos Mystic. That his death also doomed Kel'Morgath is probably the greatest contribution he ever offered to the rest of humanity.
