Guide Authors?
I'm not certain that the template should make reference to the author of the guide. I only mention this because I've been looking at adding to The Incomplete and Unofficial Guide to /bind and its talk page gives a few reasons why Curveball's name was removed from the guide. Maybe there needs to be some thought on how player guides will be treated on the wiki, with regards to their authorship, or perhaps we're treating that particular guide as a special case. Either way, some food for thought. -Lightprince 04:55, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
- On slightly further thought, maybe the template could refer people to the discussion page instead of the author. -Lightprince
- The link "author" links to the history of the page - which only contains people who have edited the wiki version. -- Agge (talk) 08:52, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
- I recommend we change the last line in it to the following: "Questions and concerns should be posed to the authors of the article using the article's talk page." I made author plural because most articles on the wiki will eventually have more than one author, and I added a link to the talk page because that's normally where article discussion happens. I also wonder if we should provide an option to link to an "original source" somewhere. As mentioned on the talk page Lightprince links to, it's probably not appropriate for an article to be written in a way that claims authorship to a single author; that's not The Wiki Way. However, I think it's appropriate to cite an original source if we're importing something that was originally posted elsewhere, such as on the official forums. For example, something similar to "This guide was originally adapted from the version posted by {{{author}}} [{{{link}}} {{{location|on the official forums}}}]." -- Sekoia 10:06, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
