Description

Grant Creston was once a commander within the Imperial Defense Force, until he defected to help the citizens of First Ward. Creston had discovered that instead of helping the citizens, the IDF were using the area as a training ground. With the destruction of Praetoria, Grant Creston has met with his former mentor, Provost Marchand, who explained that his own rule over the armies was overriden by Emperor Cole. Now, Grant Creston is out to show the people of Primal Earth that there were, and still are, honorable soldiers within the Imperial Defense Force, and that they can be a force for good in their world.

A former commander in the Imperial Defense Force, Grant Creston was one of the first 'boots on the ground' in First Ward after the region was decimated by the Devouring Earth. The situation seemed like a simple humanitarian mission at first, but it changed when First Ward was suddenly deemed a quarantine zone -- Tellurian Plague from Hamidon spores being the official excuse. The IDF were withdrawn from the area, leaving hundreds of refugees to scratch out a living from the decimation. Though troubled, Grant followed his orders.

For years he kept tabs on First Ward's ill-fated citizens, but information was scarce. Only personnel assigned to the Mother of Mercy Psychiatric Hospital could move in and out of the quarantine zone, and their stories were always a bit 'off.' Grant suspected memory augmentation by the Seers and so dug deeper, searching through restricted files for any sign that things were getting better for the people there. What little he could find suggested it wasn't.

With the deployment of D.U.S.T. into First Ward Grant had had enough. He'd heard of D.U.S.T. before, and was well aware of their exemplary training and ruthless efficiency. Many of their number were men he'd served with in the IDF and had been hand selected for these traits, and it was through these men that he learned of their ultimate objective: to use First Ward as a training ground, utilizing the remaining citizenry as targets in twisted live-fire urban combat and counter-insurgency exercises. First Ward wasn't a quarantine zone, it was a shooting range.

Disgusted with D.U.S.T., and with a leader who would allow such atrocities to be committed in his name, Grant made the easiest decision of his life. He defected from the IDF and joined the underground movement to keep the citizens of First Ward safe. Because of his status as a former IDF commander, however, Grant has not been fully welcomed by First Ward's survivors, nor is he trusted. Though he works tirelessly every day to help train the citizens to oppose D.U.S.T., it has been a thankless task. Considered a traitor amongst the loyalists and an outsider by the resistance, Grant keeps himself going only with the knowledge that what he is doing is the right thing for the citizens he swore to protect all those years ago.
