His 'show me' attitude helps keep his feet, and those of his partner, Janet Kellum, on the ground. He took the Nemesis end of the investigation and made certain that Janet focused on the Crey. The legendary aspect of Nemesis and his fantastical devices don't impress Maxwell in the least.
