Alpha Team

The Alpha Team was one of two teams formed to end the Rikti War in a daring plan by Dr. Science. Led by Statesman, Alpha Team represented nearly all of the most powerful superheroes on Earth. With over a thousand superheroes from all over the globe, they launched a nigh-suicidal frontal assault on the Rikti portal as a diversionary tactic, allowing the much smaller Omega Team to invisibly sneak through to the Rikti homeworld.

The plan succeeded, and the portal was destroyed, ending the war. The vast majority of Alpha Team's heroes died in this battle (estimated at over eight hundred people); the remaining few commanders became known as the Surviving Eight.
