A special case of altitis.

Altsheimers (properly, Altsheimer's) is a play on the mental affliction named Alzheimer's.

This phenomenon occurs when a player creates numerous alts — and then forgets about some of them. A likely explanation is that the forgotten alts were created on servers which the player does not visit frequently, or that the alts are in character slots not initially visible upon server selection.
