You learned about a hacker working with the Freakshow.
Even though it isn't stated in the compass text, only defeating Freakshow in Brickstown counts toward mission progress.
You put the press on the Freakshow, but none of them knew anything about the break-in. One of the Freaks you "questioned" did spill his circuits about a hacker that has been working with them lately, though. Apparently, this hacker specializes in ransomware. Time to pay him a visit.
Debriefing
Ransomware is all over the 'Net these days. So it's not guaranteed that this hacker is the one who was responsible for the stuff on my lab mainframe... Still, though, it's your best bet for tracking down the mutant. I think you should go look into this as soon as possible!
