Template consolidation
Question? Why can't {{Issue Notice}}, {{Future}} and the various specific issue templates all be rolled into one thing with a parameter? Say, {{Future|Issue=23}} for instance? Just seems odd that a new template has to be created and then deleted every issue. —Thirty7 10:54, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
- I think the primary answer is: cleanup. It's very easy to find all the articles using {{Issue23}}. It wouldn't be as easy to find all the articles using {{Issue Notice|23}} (which is exactly what {{Issue23}} transcludes). After an issue releases, it's important that we can easily go through and clean them all up. It also makes the DPL queries on Category:Patch Watchlist much cleaner; if the templates were all rolled together, the DPL query would have to jump through a bunch of ugly hoops. -- Sekoia 11:17, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
- Well, there you go then. —Thirty7 11:22, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
