Don't listen to the rumors about Cadao Kestrel. He would never use his mastery of voodoo for any dark purpose, and he has excellent information on the Circle of Thorns. He loves to work with magic heroes and can provide Relic and Focus Enhancements.

Kestrel is a man of peace, Character. He will help you fight the Circle of Thorns menace.

Colleen Nelson is a top notch lawyer who recently joined the district attorney's office. She has dedicated herself to bringing down the Council. She usually works with mutants and can provide Focus and Genetic Alteration Enhancements.

Colleen is a rising star in the legal world. I think you two will work well together.

If you are looking for someone who has information on Nemesis, you should speak to Anton Sampson. He is an expert in nanotechnology, and he loves working with technological heroes. Anton has access to Invention and Gadget Enhancements.

There have been some strange stories about Anton since he became obsessed with Nemesis, but he provides extremely detailed information.

Dr. Steven 'Science' Sheridan has asked to speak with you. He has more information on the Rikti than anyone in Paragon City. He also has Relic, Focus, Gadget, Invention, and Genetic Alteration enhancements.

Most people say that Doc Science is the smartest man on the planet. You will learn a lot working with him.

Captain Gordon Stacy could really use your help. He has made himself unpopular by investigating Crey, and I'm sure he'd appreciate some back up. He works mostly with natural heroes and can offer Gadget and Relic Enhancements.

Crey is a very dangerous opponent, Character. Be ready for anything.

Level 40-45

Janet Kellum is a brainiac FBSA agent. I have heard that she is high on Countess Crey's hit list. She likes working with science heroes, and she has access to Invention and Genetic Alteration Enhancements.

Janet won't steer you wrong. Just watch your step, because she's determined to go after the countess.

Information

Ecologist

Ginger Yates is a brilliant ecologist who came to Paragon City full of enthusiasm for studying the Devouring Earth. She began collecting test subjects and logging data, but it wasn't long before tragedy wiped the eager gleam from her eyes. A young hero named Torque had decided that Ginger's activities were a little dangerous for his town, and he invaded her lab, determined to destroy her test subjects. But he wasn't prepared for the strength and desperation of the cornered creatures, and the battle raged out of control. When the dust settled, Torque was dead, along with Ginger's husband and daughter. She is now grimly determined to use her knowledge to help heroes destroy what she came here to research.

The Terra Conspiracy (35-39)

Souvenir

Hamidon's Letter

You've kept this letter, addressed from Hamidon to Tanya Tyler. It's a reminder of one of your greatest battles against the Devouring Earth.

The Terra Conspiracy

It all began when your contact sent you to a lab to bust up a raid by the Devouring Earth. After routing the creatures, you spoke with Dr. Steven Sheridan, who determined that the creatures had used the lab to manufacture drugs that hamper the body's ability to fight off infections.

Seeking more information, you went to a front company owned by Fauna First, the eco-terrorist group aiding the Devouring Earth. There you discovered that the creatures had turned on the activists and kidnapped one of their members, Tanya Tyler. Your first attempt to rescue Tanya yielded only a map, scrawled on a love letter written to the young woman from the Devouring Earth's leader, Hamidon.

Tanya's map led you to her new location, and you learned her story: Tanya knew Hamidon before he was the master of the Devouring Earth. She told you that the creatures were probably created by a sentient bacteria Hamidon developed, a bacteria he called the 'Will of the Earth.'

While your contact took Tanya to a safehouse, you went out to stop another Devouring Earth raid. You defeated the monsters, but not before they made off with several cases of fertility drugs. Your contact proposed a theory: the drug thefts, Tanya's kidnapping, Hamidon's strange attraction to her: all pointed to one conclusion. Hamidon intended to change Tanya into a Devouring Earth matriarch, a creature capable of breeding more Devouring Earth creatures.

While you were at the lab, Hamidon's monsters recaptured Tanya. You rescued her again, but not before the Devouring Earth infected her. You took her to a lab for treatment, but she transformed into a Devouring Earth monster and escaped, leaving you no choice but to track her down and defeat her.

Stop the Devouring Earth from stealing the technology

Briefing

I got a tip on a Devouring Earth plot to raid the Paragon Technological Institute. If we let them get their hands on the equipment in that lab, they could produce mutagens that are far more effective than their current stock. I need you to stop the Devouring Earth from stealing that technology, Character. We have enough trouble keeping the citizens human as it is!

Mission Acceptance

See if you can find out exactly what the Devouring Earth are after. Knowing their plan is the first step toward thwarting it.

Unnecessary Solicitation

I don't want anyone at the Institute to be hurt. You need to get over there quickly.

Mission Objective(s)

A massive fist has punched a hole in one of the walls, and a box of test tubes lies shattered on the floor.

  • Defeat all DE in Lab
    • 4 techs to save, Learn Dev Earth's plan

You defeated the Devouring Earth and recovered a sample of the drug they produced.

Enemies

Devouring Earth

Clue
The technician's story

One of the technicians you rescued told you:

'They had some people with them. That's right, people! One of the men wore a shirt that said 'Fauna First.' He was the one who operated the autoclave and the other machines those monsters couldn't manipulate. They cooked up some sort of medicine, then trashed the lab.'

Clue
Chemical residue

You collected this chemical residue from a machine in the lab you saved from the Devouring Earth. Upon analysis, it may yield a clue to the creatures' plans.

Debriefing

I've heard of Fauna First; they're a radical environmentalist group that's been accused of more than one act of sabotage against polluting businesses. You say they were working with the Devouring Earth? The creatures have tried such a tactic before, but it's never long before they turn on their human co-conspirators. I suspect we haven't heard the last of this business, Character.

Take the residue to Dr. Steven Sheridan

Briefing

The residue you discovered after the Devouring Earth attack on the Paragon Technical Institute indicates that they were working on something. Finding out what it was could give us a clue to their eventual plan. I'd like you to take this residue over to Dr. Steven Sheridan. Maybe he can tell us what the Devouring Earth were cooking up in that lab.

Mission Acceptance

Dr. Sheridan may well be the smartest person I know. I don't doubt he'll have some good info for us.

Unnecessary Solicitation

I want to know Sheridan's findings as soon as possible.

Mission Objective(s)

  • Take residue to Dr. Sheridan

Debriefing

This sample is a medicine that weakens the immune system. Doctors use similar medication when they're doing a major organ transplant; it keeps the body from rejecting the new organ. I'd guess the Devouring Earth plan to turn this substance into a virus, to weaken all of our immune systems so that we're more susceptible to their mutagens. They never stop trying to wipe us out, do they? I don't know if even the Rikti hate humanity this much!

Clue
Chemical residue

You collected this chemical residue from a machine in the lab you saved from the Devouring Earth. According to Dr. Steven Sheridan, the Devouring Earth were manufacturing a drug that can cripple the immune system, thus lowering the body's chance of fighting off a mutagen or organ transplant.

Debriefing

We need to know more, and I think I know where to look: the ecological activist group, Fauna First. If they helped the Devouring Earth produce that chemical, they may well know the next phase of the plan. The organization has been deep undercover ever since they were accused of bombing an oil plant last year, but I'll see what I can ferret out.

Go to the Fauna First front company and make some arrests

Briefing

I think I've come up with a lead on Fauna First, the activist group that was working with the Devouring Earth. It turns out they have a front company located over in Founders' Falls, Oaktree Stationers. I want you to get over to the Fauna First front company, make some arrests, and see if you can figure out what the Devouring Earth is up to.

Mission Acceptance

These people may be fanatics, but they're still Paragon citizens. Take care of them, Character.

Unnecessary Solicitation

I want to know what's going on at Fauna First. Today, Character.

Mission Objective(s)

A sharp wail is cut off in a gasp. It seems all is not well for Fauna First activists.

  • Defeat foes at Fauna First
    • 5 activists to save

You rescued the activists and learned that one of them, Tanya Tyler, was kidnapped by the Devouring Earth.

Editor's Note:

Even though it isn't a stated mission objective, this mission cannot be completed until all enemies have been defeated.

Enemies

Devouring Earth

Clue
The activist's story

They took Tanya Tyler! She's been with our organization for years; she was one of the most zealous about defending the Earth!

Debriefing

It's not so unusual for the Devouring Earth to turn against humans they've allied with, but it is strange for the Devouring Earth to target just one person for kidnapping. Normally, they'll take all of the people they can get. I wonder who this Tanya Tyler is?

Find out where the Devouring Earth have taken Tanya Tyler

Briefing

It seems that the Devouring Earth was after Tanya Tyler specifically, but what I can't figure out is why they were working with Fauna First, or if there's a connection with all of this and the drug they made. One thing is certain though: We've got to find out where the Devouring Earth have taken Tanya Tyler. She may be the one who can answer a lot of these questions. I want you to hit the streets in Founders' Falls and look for clues on any Devouring Earth monsters you find.

Mission Acceptance

Something big is going on here, Character, I know it.

Find Tanya's location

Unnecessary Solicitation

We still have no idea where to start searching for Tanya Tyler!

Mission Objective(s)

On the last Devouring Earth creature you defeated, you found a map.

Editor's Note:

As the mission briefing stated, you must defeat Devouring Earth in Founders Falls.

Clue
Map of Eden

You found this map of Brickstown on one of the Devouring Earth creatures you defeated. A large X has been scrawled across one corner of the map, and the word 'Terra' is scribbled above it.

Find Tanya Tyler

Pro-tip: Should you find yourself needing to abandon this mission because you outleveled it, and want to tackle it at your current level - you will have to re-do the prior mission and defeat 20 more DE.

Unnecessary Solicitation

The longer that woman stays in the clutches of the Devouring Earth, the less chance there is she'll be human when we get her back.

Mission Objective(s)

This cave stinks of mold and guano. You breathe shallowly as you edge deeper into the shadows.

  • Find Tanya Tyler

You defeated the Devouring Earth and found a clue to Tanya Tyler's location.

Enemies

Devouring Earth

Clue
Love letter

You found this letter while searching for the missing environmental activist, Tanya Tyler. It reads:

My darling Tanya,

I have thought often of you these many years. Your beauty, your determination, your everlasting devotion to our Mother Earth--all these I remember, and they gave me hope. One day I shall rise from this dank and musty den to which I have been consigned, but until then, dearest Tanya, you will be my vessel. My Terra. You will spread our message, and you will cover the Earth.

All my love,

Hamidon

At the bottom of the letter, a map has been hurriedly scrawled in dirt, along with the message, 'Please, help me!'

Debriefing

What's this, then? A love letter! To Tanya Tyler, from the 'Hamidon' the Devouring Earth are always talking about! How strange, and how disturbing. I think you had better go after this woman right away, Character. I'm beginning to have grave fears for her well-being.

Rescue Tanya Tyler from the Devouring Earth

Briefing

Time to go to work, Character. I think I've pinned down where the Devouring Earth have Tanya. You've got to rescue Tanya Tyler from the Devouring Earth. Maybe she'll be able to shed some light on this most interesting missive from Hamidon.

Mission Acceptance

I think Tanya's the lynchpin to the Devouring Earth's new plan. Find her, and we may find the information we're looking for.

Unnecessary Solicitation

The longer that woman stays in the clutches of the Devouring Earth, the less chance there is she'll be human when we get her back.

Mission Objective(s)

A woman's voice pleads for freedom; the only answer is an unintelligible grunt.

  • Rescue Tanya Tyler

You rescued Tanya Tyler from the Devouring Earth.

Enemies

Devouring Earth

Notable NPCs

  • Tanya Tyler (Hostage)

Clue
Tanya Tyler's story

When you rescued her, Tanya Tyler told you:

'It's true, I did know Hamidon. Back then, he was Hamidon Pasalima, the molecular biologist. He was so passionate! So concerned about the world! We fell in love.

'But I haven't seen him in years, not since our first raid on Paragon Technological Institute. Yes, I was there. Hamidon used the facilities to create something he called 'The Will of the Earth'. A colony of sentient bacteria with the ability to warp living material on a molecular level. When the heroes came to stop us, I lost track of him. I guess I always assumed he had been killed.'

Debriefing

Well, Character, it looks like the Devouring Earth has a much more personal interest in Ms. Tyler than we realized. I'm having her taken to a lab; hopefully the doctors there can stop her transformation before it's too late.

Stop the Devouring Earth from stealing any more chemicals

Briefing

The Devouring Earth is raiding another drug lab! I need you to stop them from stealing any more chemicals. The Devouring Earth won't give up their plan easily; we may have rescued Tanya Tyler, but some other woman might be kidnapped in her stead. We need to know what those creatures are up to, and we need to know now.

Mission Acceptance

See if you can find out what they're after. The more we know, the better.

Unnecessary Solicitation

The Devouring Earth won't wait for you! get over there and stop that drug theft!

Mission Objective(s)

The interior of this lab is climate-controlled; a blast of cold air hits you squarely on the back of the neck.

  • Defeat all DE in Lab
    • 3 technicians to save

You rescued the technicians and learned about the Devouring Earth's latest thefts

Enemies

Devouring Earth

Clue
The Devouring Earth's theft

One of the technicians you rescued told you:

'They took all sorts of drugs: Repronex, Progesterol, Cencepta. All fertility drugs. What would those monsters want with fertility drugs?

Debriefing

The fertility drugs, Hamidon's letter to Tanya. I think I'm beginning to put this together, Character. We know that Hamidon's tried to create a progenitor before, a being that can produce more Devouring Earth creatures. He's always been thwarted in that attempt, but what if he's found another way? I believe Hamidon intends to make Tanya into a Devouring Earth matriarch, a breeder for new monsters! Remember, he referred to her as Terra. We will have to guard that young woman very carefully.

Go to the safehouse and debrief Tanya

Briefing

The last round of drug raids make me think that the Devouring Earth aren't through with Tanya Tyler. I'd like you to go to the safehouse and debrief Tanya. Anything she can tell us about the Devouring Earth's plan could help us protect her.

Mission Acceptance

If I'm right, this woman has been targeted for a very gruesome experiment. Watch your back, Character.

Unnecessary Solicitation

I really want to hear Tanya's story again.

Mission Objective(s)

From a block away, you could tell something was wrong. Where are the guards?

  • Protect safehouse
    • 4 guards to rescue

You rescued the guards and learned that Tanya Tyler has been kidnapped again.

Editor's Note:

Even though it isn't a stated mission objective, this mission cannot be completed until all enemies have been defeated.

Enemies

Devouring Earth

Clue
The guard's story

One of the guards you rescued told you:

'We tried to stop them, Character, but there were just too many. They took Tanya Tyler! You've got to help her!

Debriefing

Time is of the essence, Character. You've got to get that woman back, and not just for her own safety. If we're right about what the Devouring Earth is planning for her, the whole world could be in danger!

Rescue Tanya Tyler

Briefing

I think I've got a lead for you, Character. Some businessmen over in Founders' Falls said they saw a woman matching Tanya Tyler's description being dragged into a cave by a bunch of Devouring Earth creatures. I want you to get over there and rescue Tanya. I'm worried that the Devouring Earth's plot is close to bearing fruit. I only hope we can stop them before it's too late.

Mission Acceptance

The sooner the better, Character. They may already have all the drugs they need to begin altering that woman!

Unnecessary Solicitation

You don't have the luxury of time on this one, Character. Tanya's in desperate danger.

Mission Objective(s)

You hear the sound of heartfelt, choking sobs.

  • Rescue Tanya Tyler

You rescued Tanya Tyler, but not before the Devouring Earth could perform an experiment on her.

Enemies

Devouring Earth

Notable NPCs

  • Tanya Tayler (Hostage)

Clue
Tanya Tyler's change

Tanya Tyler told you:

'I saw Hamidon! Oh, Character, Character, he's a monster! He's not a man at all anymore! He told the creatures to inject me with this weird medicine, and I fainted. When I woke up, I was green! Please, I don't want to be a monster! Help me!'

Debriefing

So we were right. Hamidon's trying to turn Tanya into some sort of Devouring Earth breeder. I'll get her over to a lab right away. Maybe, just maybe, the docs will find a way to reverse the process.

Track Tanya down before she breeds more creatures like herself

Briefing

Bad news, Character. The doctors weren't able to help Tanya before the change took place. She turned into a monster right before their very eyes! I need you to track her down, and defeat her before she breeds any more creatures like herself. Otherwise, the world may never be the same.

Mission Acceptance

I heard that she's rampaging in a local neighborhood, Allegeheney Square. There's an emergency force field in place, but someone's got to go in there and contain Tanya. That someone had better be you.

Unnecessary Solicitation

You've got to defeat Tanya, Character, before it's too late!

Mission Objective(s)

You hear a deep, furious roar, the sound of a beast in a towering rage.

  • Track down altered Tanya

You defeated Terra, the Devouring Earth matriarch.

Enemies

Devouring Earth

Notable NPCs

Debriefing

I know this feels like a failure, but you have to remember, we stopped an ecological fiasco. Tanya will be taken to a laboratory; if there's any hope for her, I'm sure the doctors will find it. As for you, you can be glad you caught her in time! If Terra had bred more of her kind, we would never have gotten the Devouring Earth under control. They might eventually have accomplished their goal of ridding the world of humanity.

Missions

Go to a Devouring Earth cave and see if you can find out what's causing the heroes' strange new attitudes (35-37)

Briefing

I've noticed something troubling, Character, and I hope you can help me get to the bottom of it. After encounters with the Devouring Earth, several of my heroes have been expressing sympathy for the creatures' goal of reverting the planet to nature. It just doesn't seem normal. I'd like you to go to a Devouring Earth cave and see if you can find out what's causing my heroes' strange new attitudes. But be careful; I don't want to lose you, too!

Mission Acceptance

The heroes I'm talking about used to value human safety above all. Something is definitely amiss.

Unnecessary Solicitation

I still don't know what's changed the attitudes of my heroes, but I'm worried about them. Please, find the answer!

Mission Objective(s)

The floor of this cave bears recent human tracks. It seems the Devouring Earth aren't alone.

  • Defeat all DE in cave base
    • Find cause of heroes' change

You defeated the Devouring Earth and recovered a clue to the heroes' strange new attitudes.

Enemies

Devouring Earth
Crey
Clue
Organic pouch

This small pouch, found in a Devouring Earth cave, is composed of plant material. It is almost weightless, and seems to contain only gas.

Debriefing

Preliminary findings on that pouch you recovered indicate that it contains a mixture of gaseous chemicals that directly affect the brain. I don't know how the Devouring Earth engineered this stuff, but it seems to be entirely organic; there's no gas in this pouch that could be produced in a lab. Now that we have a sample, we should be able to engineer a counter-agent. It looks like my heroes will be back on the job in no time!

Battle the creatures of the Devouring Earth wherever you can (35-40)

Briefing

The Devouring Earth have been steadily growing into an incredible threat, Character, and they're getting more dangerous every day. It's vital to the safety of the city that heroes constantly fight back against the menace of the Devouring Earth. I'd like you to concentrate your efforts against the Devouring Earth for a while, battling them wherever they appear.

Mission Acceptance

The Devouring Earth can be found in many parts of the city, but you might want to concentrate your battle against them to Eden and Crey's Folly. Few other heroes can survive in those perilous areas, so heroes of your power level are always needed to battle the Devouring Earth there.

Unnecessary Solicitation

You need to defeat more of the Devouring Earth's creatures.

Mission Objective(s)

  • Combat Devouring Earth menace
    • Defeat 40 Devouring Earth

You have defeated enough Devouring Earth creatures.

Enemies

Devouring Earth

Debriefing

Public confidence always rises when people of the city see a major hero like you fighting menaces like the Devouring Earth.

Go to Crey's Folly and convince the Devouring Earth it's not their personal playground (35-40)

Briefing

There's a big problem in Crey's Folly that I think you can take care of. Every time we turn our backs on the Paragon Water Works, the Devouring Earth is in there, trying to add some sort of poison or mutagen. It's getting to the point where people don't feel safe drinking the city's water. I'd like you to go to Crey's Folly and convince the Devouring Earth that it's not their personal playground. Make sure they know that we won't tolerate any further incursions.

Mission Acceptance

Have you ever tried showering in bottled water? It's not cheap.

Unnecessary Solicitation

I'm still getting reports about Devouring Earth creatures in Crey's Folly. Back to the streets you go.

Mission Objective(s)

  • Battle DE in Crey's Folly
    • Defeat 40 Devouring Earth

You discouraged the Devouring Earth from meddling with the water works in Crey's Folly.

Enemies

Devouring Earth

Debriefing

I'll get Channel 6 to do a report on your efforts today. That way we'll get the word out that the water is safe; plus, you deserve a moment in the spotlight. Good work.

Medicate the victims of the Devouring Earth's gassing attack (35-40)

Briefing

The Devouring Earth just gassed an entire stockbrokers' office! The good news is that no one's dead yet. The bad news is that the gas has mutagenic properties, and if you don't get over there soon, the people inside will be nothing but a bunch of mindless creatures. Professor St. John Smythe cooked up a stabilizing agent that should prevent the victims from mutating until you can get them back to his lab for treatment. I need you to medicate the victims of the Devouring Earth's gassing attack. There's not a moment to waste! They could start to mutate in as little as 90 minutes.

Mission Acceptance

If you can find out why they attacked that office, it may help us anticipate similar attacks in the future.

Clue
Stabilizing agent

This medical kit contains several hypodermic needles, each with a pre-measured dose of Dr. St. John-Smythe's stabilizing agent. If administered in time, it should prevent the victims of the gassing attack from turning into mutants.

Unnecessary Solicitation

If you don't hurry, we'll have a bunch of apes jumping around trying to manage the stock market.

Mission Objective(s)

A stock ticker chatters along in the lobby, unheeded.

  • Stop Terra Firma & its guards - 90 minutes timed
    • Investigate cause of attack, 5 stockbrokers to medicate

You defeated the Devouring Earth, medicated the stockbrokers, and found a section of the Devouring Earth's manifesto.

Clue
Devouring Earth manifesto

Scrawled in mud on a whiteboard in the stockbrokers' office, you found this section of the Devouring Earth's manifesto. It reads:

'The children of commerce are our greatest enemy, for theirs are the shoulders upon which the world's corporate obscenity is built. They are the root of the devastation that has been wreaked upon Earth, our precious mother, our one, irreplaceable home.

Enemies

Devouring Earth

Notable NPCs

Debriefing

I've seen the Devouring Earth's manifesto before, but I guess I never thought they'd attack people just because of their jobs. I guess I shouldn't have underestimated their fanaticism. One thing I can say about that manifesto; it wasn't written by a big pile of rocks or crystal. There's an intelligent mind behind the Devouring Earth somewhere. If we ever hope to defeat them for good, we'll have to find out who this Hamidon is.

Rescue the company from the clutches of Nemesis (35-40)

Briefing

I need you to rescue a company from the clutches of Nemesis. Their soldiers are ripping up the main warehouse of Fleet Sports Drink as we speak. I don't know what they're after in their, but Fleet's a small company that just got started. They can't weather a storm like this. Please hurry, Character. You'll have to move fast if you want to prevent significant property damage.

You have 90 minutes to complete this task.

Mission Acceptance

These Nemesis attacks are brutal, but never random. See if you can find out what they're after.

Unnecessary Solicitation

Nemesis will make short work of that warehouse if you don't get over there quickly.

Mission Objective(s)

An animal howl rips through the building. Strange. The armies of Nemesis are usually more reserved.

  • Stop Nemesis raid - 1:30:00
    • Find cause of Nemesis' interest

You defeated the villains and found a clue to Nemesis' interest in this warehouse.

Clue
Fleet Sports Drink

You found this bottle of kiwi-flavored sports drink at the warehouse you rescued from the armies of Nemesis. The liquid inside is a virulent green color. When you hold the bottle in shadow, you can perceive a faint glow from the contents.

Enemies

Devouring Earth
Nemesis

Debriefing

This sports drink you found certainly does look strange; I'd bet my house the DATA techs will find it's contaminated with the Devouring Earth's mutagenic mold. And I think I know why. I did some digging and traced Fleet Sports Drink to a group of eco-terrorists known as the Free Earth Coalition. I think the Devouring Earth was supplying them with this mold, and they were willingly gearing up to distribute it among the population. I guess the armies of Nemesis found that plan objectionable. I can't say that I blame them.

Save ZenTech from the Devouring Earth (35-40)

Briefing

Character, get over to the ZenTech office complex on the triple! The Devouring Earth are raiding the building, and they're bent on slaughtering the entire work force! I'm sure they aren't happy with ZenTech after the company's recent brush with the EPA. You've got to save ZenTech from the Devouring Earth. Please, don't let those people die!

Mission Acceptance

Thanks, Character. I'll feel easier knowing this situation is in your capable hands.

Stop Devouring Earth raid

Unnecessary Solicitation

Have you been over to ZenTech yet? It's a madhouse! Get over there!

Mission Objective(s)

A huge crash rocks the ceiling above your head. The Devouring Earth are here, and they aren't happy.

  • Stop Devouring Earth raid
    • 5 researchers to save

You found a strange packet of organic material on one of the creatures. You call your contact and receive instructions to take it to Jenny Firkins, the hazardous technology expert.

Clue
Devouring Earth weapon

You found this small packet of organic material on a Devouring Earth creature. It is bright green, mushy, and smells like something that has spent too long in the back of the refrigerator.

Editor's Note:

Even though it isn't a stated mission objective, this mission cannot be completed until all enemies have been defeated.

Notable NPCs

  • 5 Researchers (Hostages)

Talk to Jenny Firkins

Unnecesary Solicitation

Has Jenny seen that stuff you found? She can probably tell us a lot about it.

Mission Objective(s)

  • Talk to Jenny Firkins

Briefing

This substance you found may look like a moldy pita pocket, but it's one of the most insidious weapons I've ever seen. It's a neat little packet of cancerous tissue, combined with a catalyst that will force the disease to multiply rapidly in any human host. Of course, without a delivery system, it's totally harmless. I don't see any way for the Devouring Earth to infect a person with this, short of force-feeding it to them. No, what they need is some sort of syringe or other injection system, something to get this tissue directly into the bloodstream. Oh. Oh, no.

There was a Devouring Earth raid on Lawson Pharmaceuticals this morning. Quick, organized, and destructive. Ginger Yates probably would have sent you, but you were already engaged over at ZenTech. I'm beginning to think the ZenTech attack was just a distraction, to keep you occupied while they got what they needed from Lawson Pharmaceuticals. Unless I miss my guess, the Devouring Earth is hard at work producing a stockpile of weapons that can destroy our citizens from the inside out!

Shut down weapons production

Unnecessary Solicitation

If the Devouring Earth starts using those weapons, hundreds of innocents may die! You've no time to waste!

Mission Objective(s)

The walls of this cave are spattered with a thick, green mold. You can't explain why, but you have the sensation of someone watching you.

  • Shut down weapons production
    • 3 labs to destroy

You stopped the Devouring Earth from producing their cancer-causing weapons.

Editor's Note:

Even though it isn't a stated mission objective, this mission cannot be completed until all enemies have been defeated.

Enemies

Devouring Earth

Debriefing

In a sick way, it's almost poetic. The Devouring Earth view us as a cancer upon the world, so they tried to use cancer to wipe us out. I can't tell you how grateful the city is to you, Character. You may very well have saved every life in Paragon City.

Stop the Devouring Earth's new weapon from destroying the office (35-40)

Briefing

The Devouring Earth have got their hands on a strange new bacteria that seems to be able to eat through solid steel. They deployed it just this morning, at that old plastics factory that's often been charged with polluting Founders' Falls. There won't be any more Freedom Phalanx action figures out of that place; the whole lot has been reduced to a pile of quivering mold. I've got a lead on the next target: McAllister Pest Control. I want you to stop the Devouring Earth's new weapon from destroying that office. Hurry, Character; time is of the essence! You may only have 1 hour or less!

Mission Acceptance

Whatever you do, do it quickly. If one of those weapons becomes active, it won't be long before that building is gone for good.

Unnecessary Solicitation

Please hurry. If you don't move fast, the Devouring Earth will destroy that building.

Mission Objective(s)

A pungent, moldy odor assaults your nostrils. Breathing shallowly, you edge farther into the building.

  • Stop new Devouring Earth weapon
    • 5 bacterial bombs to burn

You stopped the Devouring Earth's plan to level McAllister Pest Control.

Notes

  • You must clear the final room on the map to complete this mission.

Debriefing

Ronnie McAllister already called to say he'll fumigate your house any time, free of charge. Seriously, Character, you should be proud of your work today. Until the techs at DATA can find a way to neutralize this threat, it's heroes like you who will keep this city from knuckling under to the Devouring Earth.

Go to Founders' Falls and defeat as many Devouring Earth minions as you can find (36-40)

Briefing

The folks over in Founders' Falls think they may have to pave over Hutchinson Park. The area over there is so green and lush, it's become a magnet for Devouring Earth creatures. I think I've got another solution to their problem. I want you to head over the Founders' Falls and defeat as many Devouring Earth minions as you can find. If we can convince the Devouring Earth that Founders' Falls isn't the place for them, maybe it won't have to be turned into a parking lot.

Mission Acceptance

Hutchinson Park is a beautiful place; I'd hate to see it covered in asphalt.

Unnecessary Solicitation

There are still Devouring Earth creatures roaming free in Founders' Falls.

Mission Objective(s)

  • Battle DE in Founders' Falls
    • Defeat 40 Devouring Earth

You have discouraged the Devouring Earth from frequenting Hutchinson Park in Founder's Falls.

Enemies

Devouring Earth

Debriefing

Well done! You know, one of my best friends got married in Hutchinson Park. I'm sure she'll be delighted to know that you've saved it from becoming a concrete hole.

Security Chief Missions

A character can complete each of these missions only once. If any of these missions is active or completed from another contact, this contact won't offer that mission.

Help the Founders' Falls Security Chief (36-37)

Briefing

You need to help the Security Chief in Founders' Falls. Now!

Mission Acceptance

I am not sure what is going on, but he said to send help fast.

Help the Security Chief

Unnecessary Solicitation

Get over to the Security Chief!

Mission Objective(s)

  • Help the Security Chief

Briefing

I need you to head to the streets. I don't want to argue about politics, Crey needs to be stopped. You should try looking for them near the Red River or the Gaspee.

Clue
Founders' Falls briefing

Founders' Falls is probably the most historic area in the city. During the revolutionary period it was a busy waterfront property, until the Red River rose, leaving most of the buildings underwater. People kept living there, though, and now it's a major tourist attraction. The wooded areas around Founders' Falls have been invaded by the strange Devouring Earth monsters. Though these creatures are clearly inorganic, some strange intelligence guides their actions. They hate anything related to technology or civilization, and they especially hate human beings. People call them the Devouring Earth because it seems like the planet itself is spawning creatures to devour us all.

Keep the peace in Founders' Falls

Unnecessary Solicitation

The Security Chief gave you an assignment. Get on it.

Mission Objective(s)

  • Keep peace in Founders' Falls
    • Defeat 40 Crey

You have defeated 40 Crey minions.

Enemies

Crey

Debriefing

Quite often the Security Chiefs have the best perspective on the true threats to Paragon City.

Help the Security Chief with the sewers (38-39)

Briefing

The Security Chief for the sewers needs some skilled help. Please do whatever you can to help him.

Mission Acceptance

The area under Paragon City has quickly turned into the most dangerous area of all.

Help the Security Chief

Unnecessary Solicitation

Get over and help the Security Chief.

Mission Objective(s)

  • Help the Security Chief

Briefing

The Rikti are taking over the sewers. Get down there and play defense! Here's a briefing for you. If I were you, I'd try looking for Rikti in the Underworld or Skyway City sector.

Clue
Sewer briefing

The sewer network is probably the most dangerous place in the city right now. The Rikti have many secret bases down there, and they use the sewers for hit and run attacks all over the city. Even worse, it's said that the aliens are using the sewers to breed some strange sort of monster. We've seen evidence of these creatures in Perez Park, but nowhere else. There are even rumors of a giant beast living in the center of the sewers, just waiting for the Rikti to release it on the city. Only go in there with the help of many other heroes.

Keep Rikti from taking over sewers

Unnecessary Solicitation

Get into the sewers, Character.

Mission Objective(s)

  • Keep Rikti from taking over sewers
    • Defeat 40 Rikti

You have defeated 40 Rikti.

Note: Rikti within the sewers are found in the Abandoned Sewer Network.

Enemies

Rikti

Debriefing

We cannot give the Rikti free reign down there. They could strike anywhere in the city.
