Overview
Merit Vendors are contacts introduced in Issue 13's Merit Rewards system. They give recipes, enhancements, and other items in trade for Reward Merits. Merit Vendors are located in many different zones, and can be selected on the map as waypoints.
Each Merit Vendor has a unique costume unlike factions such as the Freedom Corps that have similar costumes across the faction. However, they still possess the same color scheme, which is maroon and yellow/gold.
There is also a Reward Merit Vendor machine that can be placed in a supergroup base. This is not an NPC, like some of the vendors in open zones. Rather, it resembles a futuristic ATM or vending machine. In the base editor it appears under the Tech Workshop tab; there is no Magic themed equivalent. It offers the same transactions that the NPC versions do.
Inventory
- Conversion:
- Convert 1,000,000 inf to 1 Reward Merit.
- Convert 30 Vanguard Merits to 1 Reward Merit. This is the main use for Vanguard Merits now.
- Convert 50 Reward Merits to 1 Alignment Merit, or vice versa. This is the sole use for Alignment Merits. It makes it easier to transfer stacks of Reward Merits between characters, eg by the in-game email system.
- Convert 50 Empyrean Merits to 1 Transcendent Merit, or vice versa. Transcendent Merits serve a similar purpose: making transferring Empyrean Merits easier.
- Enhancements
- Archetype Enhancements (Standard, not Superior): 100 Merits.
- Event Enhancements (also Standard, not Superior): 100 Merits.
- Single Origin Enhancements (level 20+): 1 Merit.
- Recipe
- IO Set: 50 Merits for Rare, 20 Merits for Uncommon.
- Respec Recipe: 50 Merits.
- PvP IO Sets: 100 Merits.
- Standard Invention Enhancements: 5 Merits.
- Very Rare IO Sets: 100 Merits.
- Reward Rolls
- Random Large Inspiration: 1 Merit
- Random Rare Invention Salvage (three "tier" options: Levels 10-25, Levels 26-40, Levels 41-50; and select Tech or Magic): 5 Merits.
- Random Rare Recipe Roll: 5 Merits.
- Salvage
- Enhancement Booster: 5 Merits.
- Enhancement Catalyst: 20 Merits.
- Enhancement Converter: 3 per Merit.
- Enhancement Unslotter: 2 per Merit.
Advice
It's worth noting that anything you can buy from the Vendor, you can also buy with inf. This means that it is usually worth buying something that is in high demand (usually Enhancement Converters or Enhancement Boosters) with Merits and selling it for inf, then buying what you actually require from the Auction House. It also means there is no point in converting inf to Merits.
The ability to convert Astral Merits and Empyrean Merits into Reward Merits was removed in Issue 27, Page 4.
